(This event was originally scheduled to be held in May and has been rescheduled.)

Please join the Center for International Media Assistance in partnership with LenCD for a live online discussion about raising the profile of media in the context of the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals. This interactive discussion for both newcomers to the media development field and seasoned professionals will address strategies the international community is using to put media on the development agenda.

Media is not always part of the conversation when it comes to the overall development picture. To ensure that media is incorporated into the post-2015 agenda, interested groups secured a side meeting at the first High-Level Meeting of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation in April. This webinar will serve as a briefing on the results of this meeting, and highlight successful cases where media development projects had lasting impact on government accountability.

The panelists will focus on answering the following questions:

  • What are examples of areas where media has helped countries strengthen accountability and effectiveness of development programs?
  • What do we need to do to raise the profile of media so we can be part of the post-2015 agenda?
  • How can we engage the global south to participate in this discussion?
  • Are there better ways to reach global audiences to show them how media plays a role in strengthening accountability?

How to participate

You will be able to view the webinar on the LenCD website or on YouTube.  Please send comments and questions via Twitter @CIMA_Media or #mediadev.

It explores methodological approaches that have contributed to achieving results as well as on the role played by change agents in stimulating change. Each webinar will address a selected challenge examining diverse experiences on achieving sustainable results in one sector, sub-sector or thematic area. Webinars are organized and hosted by LenCD partners and participation is free of charge.
